Hanoi University of Science and Technology
The Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) - Vietnam. Established in 1956, as the first national university of technology in Vietnam, it has been a leading and first research-oriented science and technology institution in the country with 12 schools, 13 Faculties and 18 research centres and many key laboratories. Since then, it has been an institution for the training of engineers and for scientific research for almost all industrial branches of the country.
In the new context of the national development, HUST is facing with the increasing importance and demand for highly qualified scientists and engineers to support Vietnam's industrialization and globalization. More than ever before, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) has been facing with significant changes and adaptation to the contemporary situation. The University is now on the right track of the country’s development strategies for science and technology towards the target of being a world accredited university:
• A highly-appreciated training institution with the international academic standards.
• A leading center for scientific research and technology transfer of the country.
• An Attractive address for students, and industrial and financial investors
In order to achieve these main objectives, Hanoi University of Science and Technology continues to develop and promote programmes which can support human resources at HUST including faculty members, staff, and students to reach to the most crucial development skills. This is also the main reason why Hanoi University of Science and Technology would like to join in such kind of project: To enhance the international co-operation capacity of HUST with International countries such as co-operation between sending and hosting institutions; promotion of partnerships and institutional co-operation exchanges. to contribute towards the development of human resources and the international cooperation capacity of HEI in Vietnam. To improve the recognition of HUST studies and qualifications, credited programmes in Vietnam and in oversea countries as well; To enable lecturers, students to benefit international language, multi-culture, education, soft skills from the experience of pursuing academic studies in Europe, Asian countries; To provide excellent teaching staff, good students with higher education; advanced and exchange programmes To enhance the skills and qualifications of teaching and academic staff so that they can contribute actively towards development and quality improvement process of our University; To build the capacity of the administration and professional working skills for HUT staff in higher education mobility activities.
In 2006, HUT has been entrusted by the Ministry of Education and Training to offer four English based Bachelor Programmes (Advanced Training Programmes): Mechatronics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioelectronics. This will be an advantage for implementing exchange programmes at HUT later when exchange students can join in full English-based course.
