University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy – Sofia , Bulgaria is an independent higher technological university established in 1953 with two Faculties: Chemical Engineering and Metallurgy.
Renamed in 1963 by a Decree of the Council of Ministers as Higher Institute of Chemical Technology and in 1995 by the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria under the name of University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, it is accredited by the National Agency of Evaluation and Accreditation to award Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in chemical technologies, biotechnology, chemical engineering, metallurgy, materials science, engineering ecology and environmental protection, automatic and information technologies, industrial management.
The University offers Bachelor, Master and PhD curricula in the field of Chemical Engineering and Technologies, Metallurgy, Materials Science, Biotechnology, Ecology, Control Engineering and Industrial Management and, in addition to the degree programs, a variety of pre-professional programs .
The University has well established connections with the Bulgarian Chemical Industry and Metallurgy as far as generations of Chemical Engineers and Managers graduated from this University. Being an active participant in SOCRATES/ERASMUS participants since the first year Bulgaria joined the Programme . UCTM is now an ERASMUS chartered University with active contacts with all EU countries and has been an active partner in several EMECW projects ( Lot 3, Lot9 and Lot11) having academic mobility with all the Countries concerned.
